Product quality assurance is a broad field. From the time a product is conceptualized to when it manufactured, sold, and later services, various quality assurance activities take place.

Product quality assurance avails itself at every stage in the product life cycle. The following are those stages, and how product quality assurance fits in.

Creation stage

In this stage, the product is designed. Product quality assurance is used to elicit customer requirements. Based on it, the product requirements are developed. During development, the quality assurance will check if the product is being designed as per customer requirements. Once the created product is stamped as satisfactory by product quality assurance department, it is released to the consumers.

Demand stage

When the product is in demand, production increases. Quality assurance ensures that the quality production in high-production environments. During high-demand, the production team might compromise on quality. This issue is stemmed by the product quality assurance.

High demand for the product, also means that manufacturing has to be sub-let. In this scenario, product quality assurance will have to set standards of production. Standards of production is a highly specialized task. For every industry, standards of production is established before production starts.

Low demand stage

High competition may make life difficult for the product. Market shares of the product may lessen. During this stage, product quality assurance performs audits on product quality. It also validates the product’s relevancy against what is expected of it in the market. Product quality assurance may work closely with marketing units as well.

Online Comparison Shopping Techniques

Gone are the days when ”comparison shopping” meant that one had to drive all over town, looking at prices and comparing the features of certain products to be sure that the right choice was made prior to a purchase. If you were unwilling to do that, then you either accepted the recommendation of the salesperson or you simply picked up the first product you found that proposed to the job intended for a price you were willing to pay.

Now, most people do their comparison shopping online. Simply by logging on to a computer and opening a web browser, we now have access to goods and services information from nearly every retailer and wholesale supplier. In fact, there are even online services that will conduct searches for you and email you sale alerts or notices of the best price for an item. This can help promote certain online-only merchandisers as well as building traffic for those brick-and-mortar facilities.

By far, the most likely way to ensure that you have gotten the best price on any given product is to do a web search for it. Search results will likely provide several different purchasing options for the item, as well as the average prices among these sellers. You can also choose to investigate online auction or swap-meet style websites, especially for rare, used and collectible items. Because it is getting harder and harder for retail businesses to overcharge, we can be sure that the best prices will be made evident to us through the use of online comparison shopping techniques.

An eagle’s eye on the product quality!

In today’s global era, the customers do not hesitate in spending a bit more for a best quality product. The theory is “quality never comes cheap” and is followed by the current buyers. To get the best of customers, it is required to offer the best of the company/ brand’s services too.

A quality check is the prime factor governing the overall product. The product should be regularly inspected to maintain the standards set by its producers and to keep up with its competitive “siblings”. The lesser defective merchandize, lower customer complaints, late deliveries and keeping the company’s reputation in high spirits could only be possible with the production of a proper product meeting the guidelines and regulations. There are three major phases to keep a check on the quality of the products. Pre-production, during production and post-production are the basic three steps where the monitoring needs to be done. The random sampling of the manufactured products helps keep the quality under check. The consistence in delivering quality products also establishes reliability towards the brand name and helps win over the trust of the customers. The policies need to be maintained and followed from designing to manufacturing to finishing of the products by all units to comply with the standards. The product testing in most adverse conditions should also be carried out to ensure the limits of their products along with the guideline maintenance for the users to let them know the do’s & don’ts.

The services also include the customer support and tech support offered by the corporations for the complementation of the product to the consumers.

Shopping Securely in an Online World

One of the first major online successes was Amazon.com. Back in the early days of Amazon, it was just selling books. As soon as customers got used to the idea of shopping online, Amazon took off. Now, you can buy practically anything on that site, from computers to t-shirts. With Amazon blazing the trail, almost every business soon got online, and now, you just can’t be competitive unless you have a strong online presence and shopping portal.
There’s ton of group buying sites out there that make life easier for many people; and also make spending money online (sometimes insecurely) very tempting..
Sites like Groupon, Parents Deals and LivingSocial are all very secure networks in and of themselves, but those who are looking to violate others, have different ways of getting around these barriers.
Naturally, with all of that commerce flowing, there are some unsavory characters out there who are looking to make a quick buck by scamming, hacking, and outright stealing. Fortunately, merchants and banks are aware of this and have taken strong measures to beef up their online security, providing you with a safe shopping environment.
There’s two ways to deal with this. One, you can get a temporary shopping number (virtual credit card), or two, you can use cards, like the REACH card, that won’t make ties to your bank account and allow you to safely make purchases.
Online shopping numbers are temporary credit card numbers that will allow you to shop without giving up your real credit card numbers. These are typically used just once, and then they become invalid. That means if some malicious hackers should snatch that number, it would be useless to them. Online shopping numbers aren’t restricted to Internet purchases. You can also activate them and use them for any phone orders. There is a pretty good chance that if you have a credit card with a major bank, your financial institution offers online shopping numbers.
Three major banking institutions offer their own variations of online shopping numbers.
· Citibank – This bank calls its program the Virtual Account Number. If you have a Citibank-issued credit card, you can log onto the bank’s website and set up your Virtual Account Number for immediate use.
· Bank of America – The online shopping number is called ShopSafe. The Bank of America website landing page offers all the information that you’ll need to activate ShopSafe.
· Discover – This company doesn’t pull any punches with its title: Secure Online Account Number. Like the other bank credit cards, you can find all the information about its program at its website.
Always have a notepad handy to jot down your online shopping numbers and passwords so you won’t confuse them with your regular account numbers. If your credit card company doesn’t have online shopping numbers available, you can always purchase debit cards in fixed amounts.
These cards can be used like your regular credit card but with the limit you set up. And there is no bill because you have, in essence, already paid for the card.

Composing a better product

Every individual is interested in buying the product best suited to his/ her requirements. A product is defined as an entity, which is a collection of features and characteristics to meet the needs of the user. The choices of consumers have been evolving with time and producers have been struggling by all means to construct a full fledged product prior to deliverance. To understand the needs of customers better, the companies carrying out various businesses are focusing more on researching (termed as ethnological research) the expectations from products by the majority of potential consumers. Measures are opted to introduce new products as per the needs and to improve the products already in existence.  The products and services can be improved to meet the requirements by analyzing it from the point of view of the consumers. A research (Science daily, issue June 3, 2008) has even proved that the consumers with higher emotional sensibilities have a better choice of product selection. This offers an opportunity to further study the product needs based on emotional sentiments by the analysts too.

At a shot, it is not possible to target a huge mass of consumers as every individual has their specific needs and requirements. Thus, the target needs to be set which can be fruitfully catered. For a user, the better product is the one having the potential to fulfill all/ most of the concerns of its user above the standards of what a compeer brand would offer at quite possibly the same price. All the factors including focused research, dedicated understanding and quality effectiveness contribute in coming up with the better product every time. In fact, every new version of the product when in existence should the old product also be in place to understand the preference of the customers and to be sure whether the aim has been accomplished or not!

Warranty is a token of confidence for the product

An assurance for something you invest in always gives a “feel good” essence. The confidence of investment is elevated whenever the investor is made sure of the investment at right place. This is done by giving warranty on the products & services being to be had to its consumers by a corporation. A warranty is a written “promise” or a deed by the service provider to its acceptor for the services being offered is true and if found false, the investor will be rightful of the entire reimbursement either of their investment or for the replacement for the entity under warranty. A warranty ensures the consumers to give in their hard-earned money to procure the service/ product to a great extent as it stimulates a sense of satiation of not letting their investment go in vain. If the products do not prove to be up to the mark or does not comply with the promises made during investing then within no time they can surrender it with no deficit. The warranties & disclaimers are legal techs and are not a matter to be bluffed.

The product guarantee can be of various natures. It can cover the entire entity or just a part/ parts of it. The warranty can be for a lifetime (until the life of the product) or for a limited time period. The thing to take care of before claiming a product service contract is to see whether the product/ services have been consumed in the standard way before the defect arose or their have been special conditions leading to such a situation. There are some warranties that cover the conditions from normal to some special cases but not always.

Providing a warranty to your product ensures the confidence of manufacturing, working and technology you have imparted for it to stand in the market that without a flaw attracts consumers with full faith!

Origins of Consumerism

Life in the past was very easy when early men used to hunt for food for their survival. At that time, people used to follow barter system, in such a scenario there was no recession, no financial problems and no debts. But as our life progressed, we shifted to an agrarian economy, life was simple even then. After that, some people and groups came up with innovative ideas of such goods and services which made the life of people more comfortable than ever before. Then, many such groups and companies came into being and the number of such companies kept on increasing to meet the growing demands of the population.

The condition was smooth till the time the production of goods was equal to the demand of the people. As the time progressed, many more companies started producing new types of goods and services up to the limit that it surpassed the demands of the people; this was the time when the production and supply of goods was much more than the demand of the people.

This resulted in the increase of competition in the market as every company started competing with other companies to produce their goods in such a manner that people prefer their goods and services over the products and services of their competitive companies. In such a scenario, some businessmen took the help of glamorous advertisements to attract more consumers.

In the beginning, some business men were able to increase the demands of their goods by some deceptive glamorous advertisements. Then, the time came when the consumers started understanding these deceptive marketing strategies and they became smart in choosing their goods. Then the economic theory of consumerism came into being.
According to the theory of consumerism, businessmen started catering to the needs of the consumers in the best possible manner by giving them greater value of their money for running a successful business. This is how, consumerism came into being.

Rationale behind Consumerism

Consumerism is a term referred to the phenomenon of the market under which the market has become consumer-oriented rather than sellers’ market as was the case in the past. The market was sellers- market till the time, the production of the goods was equal to or less than the demand of the consumers.

At that time, the consumers were in search of sellers who could cater to their needs. In such situations, some of the sellers had monopoly over the market for some specific goods while other marketers were able to charge more for their goods. It is because, the supply was less than the demand, and thus, prices could be hiked.
As an economic phenomenon, whenever the demand is more than supply, prices of the goods go up. In such situations, some people are not able to afford the hiked prices of the goods, thus, the demand of the goods automatically goes down, this results in the balance of demand and supply.

The reversal of this theory is equally true, whenever, the supply of the goods is more than the demand, the prices of the products go down to create the same balance in the demand and supply of goods. In such situations, the market becomes consumer- oriented.

In the market which is consumer- oriented, consumers have the liberty to choose the goods of their choice based on the criteria of quality of goods, prices of the goods and the affordability of the consumers. In such situations, people choose only those goods which give them the worth of their money.

Therefore, businessmen have to advertise in the best possible manner to spread awareness among the people about their goods as well as to provide good quality products to remain in such consumer- oriented manner. Such is the effect of consumerism on the market.
