Product quality assurance is a broad field. From the time a product is conceptualized to when it manufactured, sold, and later services, various quality assurance activities take place.
Product quality assurance avails itself at every stage in the product life cycle. The following are those stages, and how product quality assurance fits in.
In this stage, the product is designed. Product quality assurance is used to elicit customer requirements. Based on it, the product requirements are developed. During development, the quality assurance will check if the product is being designed as per customer requirements. Once the created product is stamped as satisfactory by product quality assurance department, it is released to the consumers.
When the product is in demand, production increases. Quality assurance ensures that the quality production in high-production environments. During high-demand, the production team might compromise on quality. This issue is stemmed by the product quality assurance.
High demand for the product, also means that manufacturing has to be sub-let. In this scenario, product quality assurance will have to set standards of production. Standards of production is a highly specialized task. For every industry, standards of production is established before production starts.
Low demand stage
High competition may make life difficult for the product. Market shares of the product may lessen. During this stage, product quality assurance performs audits on product quality. It also validates the product’s relevancy against what is expected of it in the market. Product quality assurance may work closely with marketing units as well.
